Bradley Schuller
Bradley Schuller, tenor
Bradley Schuller is a professional operatic tenor, and a vocal instructor. He is a versatile performer with over 30 operatic roles performed in his repertoire. Highlights include Rodolfo in La Boheme, The Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, Alfredo in La Traviata, Canio in I Pagliacci, Don Jose in Carmen, Hoffman in Tales of Hoffman, Nemorino in The Elixir of Love, and Tamino in The Magic Flute to name a few. In addition to operas, Bradley has soloed in ten orchestral works including Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde, Stravinski’s Les Noces in Russian, Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings, Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer, and of course Handel’s Messiah.
Bradley’s singing career has engaged him throughout the Chicagoland area, where he has performed with over ten companies including Light Opera Works, Du Page Opera Theatre, L’Opera Piccola, and has been on the roster of the Lyric Opera chorus for four years. Outside of the Chicago area, Bradley spent two years with Opera for the Young, a Madison, Wisconsin-based company. With Opera for the Young, Bradley had the pleasure of bringing opera directly to schools all throughout the Midwest area. He has logged over 120 performances with that company. In addition, Bradley spent two summers performing with the prestigious Central City Opera in Colorado as an apprentice. In 2000, he had the wonderful opportunity to study and perform in Italy for a month, receiving a full scholarship and performing Rinuccio in Puccini’s comic gem, Gianni Schicchi. In the summer of 2005, he had an additional opportunity to study and perform abroad – this time in Dierbach, Germany.
Bradley has recently moved to Oak Park, and joined the Oak Park Area Arts Council as an artist member. What attracted Bradley to Oak Park was the wide range of artistic events, and a strong culture of supporting the arts. In addition, he loves that there is such a vibrant, vital community of arts and artist organizations. Of course, it helped that his wife, Yasmeen, grew up here, and really loves Oak Park. Bradley really wants to contribute to the arts scene in Oak Park, and has already had leading roles in two operas here in town. Since moving here last year, he has starred in Rigoletto in October and La Boheme in March with Oak Park-based American Opera Group. Plans are being made that he might perform the role of Lt. Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly in August, again with American Opera Group at Dominican University. Also, Bradley is the tenor soloist and section leader at River Forest United Methodist Church.
In addition to being an accomplished singer, Bradley is also a very experienced voice teacher. He has over three years of experience being a singing teacher. He has taught at four area high schools, Lake Forest, Palatine, Niles West, and Fremd. He currently teaches over 25 students. Over the past year, he has had four of his high school students major in music at college. Two of his students even received singing scholarships, one for $2,000 annually and the other for almost $20,000 annually.
Bradley teaches adults as well as high school students. He is looking to expand his teaching here in Oak Park in his home studio. He is accepting new students of all backgrounds and experience levels. For further information, please contact him at his website, www.bradleyschuller.com.
